My drum pad has stopped responding: what can MIDI verify?
Plug your kit in
Donât guess, measure. The kit check is open to everyone and needs no account.
Check my kitWhen a pad is completely silent, software cannot tell which part is to blame. It can still establish one precise fact: no MIDI note from this element arrives over several confirmed series, even as you hit harder.
The eDrumWork diagnostic only concludes D13 after several phases, and never turns silence into a physical cause.
Before calling the pad silent
Check that the selected MIDI input receives the other elements of the kit. If nothing at all arrives from the kit, the test is no longer about one pad. Then play the suspect zone at clearly different soft, medium and strong levels.
You must confirm every silent series. Without that, software cannot tell âI hit it and nothing arrivedâ from âI did not play the stroke.â
D01 or D13?
If strong hits get through while soft ones disappear, the pad is not fully silent: D01 describes a detection threshold set too high.
D13 requires notes to stay absent across successive confirmed phases. Raising the force keeps one missed soft series from getting a pad labeled dead.
eDrumWork can keep the instructions, your confirmations, the events from the rest of the kit and the persistent absence on the tested zone. It cannot decide between a connection, an input, a sensor, a setting or any other cause outside the observed stream.
Once D13 is established, MIDI data alone cannot justify recommending a module setting. The result is a documented symptom, not a remote hardware inspection.
