Suggest passage preparation for a drum student
TeachersAn exercise may cover several bars while the difficulty sits in just two beats. Preparation lets you suggest work on that passage without replacing the score or assignment goals. It is optional, and the student can adapt it.
Choose the work and its goals first
In the teacher area, propose independent exercises or a sequential program. Set each exercise’s target tempo and duration. These goals belong to the received work; preparation can use a different tempo.
An optional target date provides a checkpoint for the next lesson. It neither books a lesson nor automatically adds a date to the student’s planner.
Set the passage and voices
At the Preparation step, enable the suggestion for the relevant exercise. Choose the first and last beat, across several bars if needed, then the available voices to work on. Check that the passage includes the coordination you want to revisit.
This selection prepares part of the exercise; it does not rewrite its score.

Choose step by step or Listen, then play
Step by step has no metronome. Listen, then play uses the preparation tempo. Choose where to resume after an error and, when the method allows it, click subdivision and tempo adaptation.
These settings provide a starting point. No choice suits every student or difficulty.
Try the suggestion, then let the student adapt it
Try in Learn opens a personal copy on your account. Your trial does not play on the student’s behalf or create any of their results.
After accepting the work, the student can choose Prepare a passage. Their preparation budget does not shorten the assignment. They can change the method, voices or passage; results describe the conditions actually played.
Read preparation results in context
Preparation sharing has its own permission, separate from playing results. Sharing must be allowed at launch and when you read it; the student can also keep a session private.
Success on a prepared passage does not validate the whole exercise. A missing result does not prove a lack of practice. Discuss these observations in the next lesson: eDrumWork has neither messaging nor free comments.
To complete the work, see how to set a target tempo or build a practice program.
